On Thursday 14 April 2016, the Faculty of Law of the University of Niš (Serbia) organized in its premises in Niš an one-day conference on personal name law. The subject of this inter-Balkan meeting, in which the Hellenic Institute for International and Foreign Law also participated with legal experts A. Douga and V. Koumpli, was the presentation and analysis of private international law as well as substantial law issues on personal name. The contributors illustrated the legal background and the jurisdictional framework of several Balkan legal orders (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, FYROM, Greece, Serbia and Turkey) and addressed current practical issues, also in the light of European Union Law.
