Scope of application
The Institute’s competence for the supply of legal information is defined as follows:
Ι. In relation to international law, foreign laws and EU law
Legal information on the above subjects may be supplied to:
- public authorities (exempted from remuneration)
- attorneys-at-law
- notary publics
Legal information is refused to private individuals (natural or legal persons)
IΙ. In relation to internal (Greek) law
Legal information on Greek law may be provided to:
- international courts and tribunals and foreign public authorities (exempted from remuneration)
- foreign attorneys-at-law
- foreign notary publics
Legal information is refused to private individuals (natural or legal persons), as well as to any persons domiciled within the Greek territory
ΙΙΙ. The Institute is also the competent national agency in relation to the European Convention on Information on Foreign Law (London 1968), as amended by Additional Protocol (Strasbourg 1978).
