In memoriam Konstantinos Kerameus

It is with immense sadness that the Hellenic Institute of International and Foreign Law bids farewell to Professor Konstantinos Kerameus, who passed away on Sunday, 26 December 2021. One of the most important Greek jurists of the last half century, he served as Director of the Institute from 1990 to 2008. During the term of his service, he contributed to the growth of the Institute by strengthening comparative legal research and the supply of information on foreign law. Highlighting the importance of sound financial management of the Institute’s budget, he focused on the expansion of its library, which granted access to remote jurisdictions previously inaccessible. Among the most prominent accomplishments of his term was the organization of the XIVth General Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law, which took place in 1994 in Athens, and the subsequent assumption of the Academy’s Presidency, from 1998 to 2006. Above all, for those who worked with him Professor Kerameus was an inspirational teacher and mentor. We are determined to honour his memory by continuing to grow the Institute with the same integrity and dedication.
